Can open data improve public policy making? day 1
15 Jun 2011
Discussion over the two days will be built around the five main sectors covered by Making a Difference with Data (housing, education, police, health, transport) and will focus on two key questions:
• What are the key datasets in each of these sectors and how accessible, useful and usable they. What needs to change?
• What data is needed to define and evaluate a named policy issue in each sector, and what data is needed and to support potential interventions by public service organisations?
Sessions will be led by Making a Difference with Data’s five content editors, each of whom will initiate the discussion by posting a presentation in the forum. Participants will be invited to respond through forum posts. The timetable appears below.
We think this event will be of particular interest to:
• Policy-makers in local authorities, police, fire, health and other public services
• People leading campaigning or lobbying organisations
• Research bodies
• Professional associations
• Voluntary and other third sector organisations
